Cover of SyncShot Comics #04, The Name is the Frequency: a tattooed Togbui holds a pigeon on a rain-slick London street beneath a lattice of light
01The name is the frequency. A division of the gods. Written by Eli.
A crowded Makola Market under a storm-lit skyline, then an empty snowbound lecture hall, then a wall of rejected job applications
02The world is a binary system of two nations: the North and the South. Born in the South — bleeding resources, suffocating under engineered scarcity. He escaped to the Northwest and mapped how empires control minds and money. The knowledge was useless if the empire wouldn't let him in.
Rain-soaked Newcastle streets, a redundancy walk-out with a cardboard box, and a passport placed into a Department of Mainland Affairs tray
03The North East became his lifeline — a behavioural analytics firm needed someone who understood how cultural narratives drive economic collapse. Then capital proved to be a fragile algorithm and the firm went bust overnight. To stay and fight for a new visa, he surrendered his passport to the DMA: the physical anchor of his identity.
A man spiralling among stacked books, a sepia church congregation, an extreme close-up of his eyes, and a Little Free Library holding The Serpent and the Rainbow
04Without the book, he started spiralling — and the panic wasn't bureaucratic, it was spiritual. Did they trade our present for a delayed utopia, blinding us to the power of our own bloodlines? In a quaint wooden box, a graveyard for forgotten literature, a book on Haitian Vodou. Not an accident. A breadcrumb.
Eli reading on a rainy park bench, bare feet with cowrie anklets beside his boots, and a tattooed Togbui holding a pigeon
05"Welcome, Eli. We have been expecting you." — "Who are you? How do you know my name? My dream… the DMA… my lost passport." — "You have lost nothing. I have tracked your frequency long before you were born. To protect you."
Two men on a park bench, a lineage signature analysis screen highlighting FON, and rows of Southern passports burning on racks
06"It was not a dream. There is a covert network embedded deep inside the Department of Mainland Affairs." They intercept the passports of powerful Southern lineages. As long as our people are sedated by their totalitarian religions, the network thrives. They steal the passport to sever your ancestral tether — to kill you spiritually.
Diagram of cryptochrome CRY4 radical pairs in a bird's eye, the Togbui speaking Ewe to the pigeon, and the bird released in a spiral of light
07Not a mystic — his family's quantum communications architect, weaving through dreams until the exact moment they would meet. The bird's eye is a quantum sensor: one photon splits an electron pair, entangled spins tilt to a fifty-microtesla field, coherence holds just long enough to read. Tɔgbui Dugan… míele yɔwòm. The name is the address. Quantum information is never destroyed, only scrambled. He wasn't praying. He was calibrating.
A pigeon released into a vast lattice of light, then a returned passport with an approved visa, then Eli outside Kinetic Data Solutions
08Not spirits — preserved structural data in the quantum architecture, still answering. "The message is sent. Your warriors are already retrieving your passport and your visa." Two days later the DMA inexplicably mailed it back. Visa approved. A new job, a new vantage point: he stopped looking for a place in their empire and started drafting the blueprints to build his own.
Closing page: faceless suited figures around a table of burning African passports, to be continued in #05 Blood & Fire

The table is still burning.
